CHILDREN'S EYECARE

At Bath Opticians, we recommend regular eye examinations from the age of two to ensure your child’s eyes develop healthily as they grow up.

It’s estimated that one in seven school-aged children suffer from an undiagnosed eye condition, an unforgivable statistic when eye tests are free for anyone under the age of 16.

We strongly recommend you bring your child to see us annually because, from a young age, their vision develops at a dramatic rate – and problems can develop just as quickly.

If issues are detected before the age of eight, they can be corrected far more easily than at a later age.

By bringing your youngster to us regularly, we can monitor their eye health, identify any conditions at an early stage and treat them as quickly as possible.

Our opticians pride themselves on their ability to work with children of all ages and abilities, so your little one can look forward to having fun when they have an appointment with us.

Children's Sunglasses

Your children need amazing sunglasses – for their protection and quality of life

Children’s sunglasses must block 100% of the sun’s UV rays.

To protect your child’s eyes fully, check the lenses have either the CE mark or UV400, which means they block out 99.9% UVA and UVB, or marked 100% UV.

Ensure the lenses cover your child’s eyes to prevent light breaking through unprotected areas. A wraparound design can be perfect if you’re in an environment with a lot of light reflection i.e. by water.

Polarized lenses will eliminate blinding glare, giving your child full protection and clearer vision.

Importance of fitting

If your frames don’t initially fit correctly or keep slipping down then light could break through and cause damage to your eye.

We will make sure you choose a pair that’s right for you, finding brands which will do additional fitting to your required measurements.

Further adjustments can be performed on a walk-in basis.
